My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

There is an unknown battle going on behind the bars within our prisons. This is a battle for better mental health for Corrections Officers and Staff.

Most people are all well aware of the physical injuries as a result of assaults, but we often forget about the effect of working under constant threat of assault, witnessing or being victim to violent assault and responding to major incidents of violence self-harm or suicide on a regular basis.

To continue the phenomenal work done by WAPOU and those bloody legends Andy, Greg and Bodie to raise awareness for all of those people who’ve ever wrestled, or are currently wrestling, with poor mental health. Something we have all been touched by in some way, shape or form.

We have teamed up with the legends at Movember and set up an Australasian Corrections Movember Challenge.

I am using this platform to help raise awareness of this unknown battle behind the bars.

We are all pretty tough to be working prisons but we must each Stand T.A.L.R (Talk, Ask, Listen, Refer) and face the challenges of poor mental health:

TALK - If you are the one who is suffering. Find someone who you trust, and can confide in, and get whatever is on your chest off.

ASK - If you’re concerned about someone, simply ask. This takes huge balls but may be the most important question you ever ask.

LISTEN - Sometimes the best gift of all is to simply give someone your ear, not advice.

REFER - Refer that person to help, every time, everyday, every way.
