Still on the fence about doing Movember at work this year? Take a peek into the playbook of EY NZ. In 2024, they nailed it, finishing up our top workplace fundraiser. And while big numbers were the outcome, how they got there involved a whole lotta fun, connection — and a legendary cyclothon already cemented in EY office lore.
The month began with a Quiz Night devised by one of EY’s own. But friendly trivia quickly turned into a showdown of wits, setting the stage for 30 days of fun, fundraising, and a little inter-department competition.
In Christchurch, an employee bravely shared his experience with prostate cancer, with support from the Cancer Society. The conversation was so powerful, it was broadcast across EY’s Oceania offices. Meanwhile Wellington’s team tackled mental health in the workplace, opening up discussions that hit close to home for many.
Bake sales fueled the team midweek, while a lunchtime run/walk got the endorphins pumping. But nothing compared to the 24-hour cyclothon whereemployees across all three offices pedaled through the day—and deep into the night. Some rode for two hours straight, proving their legs (and their commitment) were unstoppable.
There’s no right or wrong way to do Movember. But steal a page from EY NZ’s book: trivia and karaoke nights are easy wins; bake offs are always crowd pleasers. Then put your own spin on things. Start with fun and the fundraising dollars will follow. Get that right then everyone in the workplace wins this Movember.
