Why now? Because the world is ready to listen

Conversations on men's mental, physical and emotional health are gaining momentum. There's growing representation in media and increasing attention from governments around the world.

Research from Movember in 2025 found strong public appetite for more open conversations around these issues. Significant majorities reported being open to engaging in men's health campaigns.

Three in five agreed that society should talk more about men's mental health challenges. But these conversations often don't begin in clinics. They start in the everyday spaces where men live their lives: in communities, schools, workplaces, sports fields, among friends and around family tables.

What the series is all about

'Real Talk: Conversations on Men's Health' is a new branded film series produced for Movember by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions. It will explore how men's health is shaped over time by culture, environment, and experience. The series will lean on characters of all ages through case studies from around the world. It will showcase the potential drivers behind the life expectancy gap. The role of hobbies and community in supporting wellbeing. The realities of men's mental health. The growing influence of online spaces. And how changing models of fatherhood are shaping the next generation.

Real stories, real impact

Through immersive, human-centred stories, the series will present an insightful picture of what it means for men and boys to live well today. It will also explore what needs to change to support healthier futures, both for them and for society as a whole.

In Movember's own words

"Twenty years of campaigning in men's health has taught us that everyone has a story to tell. Stories of men not knowing their risks. Not paying attention to their physical and mental health. Accounts of men leaving it too late to speak to a healthcare professional, or simply having a poor experience when they do. When men are healthy, benefits radiate outward, strengthening families, deepening relationships, and energising communities, but many men face barriers in looking after their health. Fortunately, there are examples of what works when it comes to overcoming these barriers for men and improving their health outcomes."
