Beautiful people of New Zealand, we have a message for you: THANK YOU. With footage sent to us by our supporters from across New Zealand, we have put together this video as an ode to you, our Movember community.
2021 was one of our biggest, hairiest years yet. Over 15,000 Kiwis signed up to grow a moustache, host an event, take on our 60km move challenge or come up with a challenge of their own with our Mo Your Own Way fundraiser category.
Over 75,000 donations rolled in across New Zealand – raising more than $3,500,000 for men’s health. From game-changing mental health initiatives that straight-up save lives to global breakthroughs in cancer research and treatment – this is where the money goes.
- Like A Man:
In 2021, we teamed up with journalist Matt Chisholm wants to understand why the rate of male suicide in New Zealand is so alarmingly high. In the Movember-funded doco ‘Like A Man’ – Matt digs deep into what it is to be a Kiwi man. It’s gut-punching, inspiring viewing, with a strong purpose: to break down the outdated perceptions of masculinity that are holding us back.
- Oranga Tū:
Māori men diagnosed with prostate cancer experience significantly poorer survival rates than non‐Māori. Your funds are helping to level the playing field by funding Oranga Tū, a Kaupapa Māori (co-design) project with Māori communities involving tāne (men) with prostate cancer, whānau (family), Māori health providers, specialists and researchers.
- HeadFirst:
Movember has teamed up with New Zealand Rugby to support and develop their HeadFirst program. The intervention is delivering mental health literacy programs to young men and boys in the rugby union community in New Zealand.
- Farmstrong:
Farmers tend to put others first, at the risk of their own mental health. We’re tackling this head-on by providing them with information on their wellbeing and quality of life in a collaboration between the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand and leading rural insurer FMG.
" These programmes are rewriting the future of men’s health. And every shred of credit goes to you. "
Your fundraising efforts fuel our fire. You’re the engine of our impact. We can’t thank you enough. So until next time, keep havin’ fun and doin’ good. United We Mo.
