Moustache month is just around the corner, and with time ticking away until titillating ‘tashes take over the country to raise awareness and crucial funds for the Cancer Society and Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand; Mo Bro Ambassadors have come out in their droves to support the 2012 campaign.
November is the best month of the year for defining the upper lip and top All Black lock Brodie Retallick is potentially the country’s tallest Mo - leading the charge as the first Ambassador in the line-up, ready to teach others in the ways of the Mo.
Joining the iconic All Black are other sporting heroes including former All Black and Crusader Aaron Mauger, Jared Hoeata from the Otago Highlanders, former New Zealand No.1 Surfing Champion Maz Quinn, extreme fisherman Matt Watson from the ITM Fishing Show and former Vodafone Warriors second-rower, now MaiFM Breakfast Host, Wairangi Koopu.
Also vying for top-lip appreciation is the outgoing Jay Reeve, afternoon host of ZM Radio and distinguished Willie Lose from Radio Live and Sky TV. The knowledgeable Jamie McKay from Radio Sport’s The Farming Show and Auckland DJ icon Murry Sweetpants from Ponsonby Radio complete the radio section of mo-ambassadors.
New Zealand television presenter Brendan Pongia and sports broadcasting legend John McBeth are also growing a mo in support of this fantastic cause alongside Celebrity Photographer Chris Sisarich and ‘Nothing Trivial’s Will Hall who will trim and fashion their top lips into bristling magnificence, helping to make 2012 the biggest Movember New Zealand has experienced yet.
Even this stellar line-up of amazing Mo Bro ambassadors admit they can’t do it alone, so this year they have support of Olympic size proportions! Olympic Gold Medalist Eric Murray, who arguably has New Zealand’s most famous blonde facial hair - will be supporting the Mo Bro’s with his top-tips on grooming, and advising Mo Bro’s on how to get the best of their Mo’s.
Celebrity chef Josh Emett will also be supporting Mo Bro’s through their dark and itchy days of growth, by giving tips on what to eat in order to get Mo’s looking sharp and also tips of what to eat for general wellbeing.
Rounding out the official support this year is two of New Zealand’s leading ladies who will lend their support as official Mo Sisters. Sports star and Sky TV presenter Melodie Robinson will be cheering on and inspiring Mo Bro’s throughout their Mo growth cycle, as will actress and TV Presenter Jo Holley. Both these Mo Sistas will be doing their best to raise the profile of this vital campaign and encourage you to do the same.
Participation is integral to Movember successfully continuing its journey and this is where we hope you will join in. Knowledge is power; the time to learn and grow is now!
