I’d just like to say thank you.
As we start to look forward to a clean shave at the end of the month and the holiday season ahead, let’s remember the real purpose of Movember .Talk to your mates, your dads, your sons, your brothers, husbands, and partners. Reach out and ask “how are you feeling” it’s a simple thing that can make such a huge difference … and if you are suffering in silence, have the courage to reach out – there is plenty of CARE to go around.

20 Nov - Happy Birthday to me - and with a late flurry of donations from Sam Bangma, John Tucker and Marty Martin (thank you all - you're legends) I was pushed over the $1,000 donations target and true to my word underwent the transformation last night to gingerfy the mo. Like a nightmarish vision of someone half-mutating into Ed Sheeran I emerged from the dark with a bright carrot orange creeping across my upper lip, certainly a birthday to remember and a nice surprise for my mates who I am catching up with for the rugby at breakfast tomorrow!

19 Nov, a little over a week left with the insulation on my upper lip, which would be great if I were battling through an arctic winter, but in the NZ spring time ... frankly annoying. Thanks to all the very generous donors, I'm sitting at $900 and BAT Bro's team doing well at $1,510. Also, it's my Birthday tomorrow, so if you'd like to break me on my special day - make a donation to get me to the $1000 mark and gingerfication of the mo!

15 Nov and halfway through.. The mo has the desired shape, though not the desired bushiness. My push to get to $700 was achieved with some more generous donations - thank you! So now I must pony up with my next target and and pledge. Get me to $1000 and the mo goes ginger for every day over the $1000 mark - my complete humiliation is in your hands!

Well, its day 11 and much like a persistent mould in a damp bathroom, my moustache is setting in. With my thanks to the generosity of my donors, I am also closing in on my adjusted donations target of $700. Just $80 to push me over that mark, if I make it before the 15th Nov I'll raise the target again to $1000 and throw in some additional giggles which may include dying the monstrosity ginger!! So if you are still sitting on the fence - dig deep for a great cause. Thanks also to my "BAT Bro's" for going through this with me as well - facial humiliation is best done with others - just like sharing your health stories, blokes!

OK, it's day 8 start of week 2 and that 5'o'clock shadow fuzz is starting to settle sufficiently for an initial grooming. One of my donors request the full Mexican, so here goes! I'm not sure I have the swarthy Latina good looks to be mistaken as having Mexican heritage, and I may need several more months to bush out to a respectable impersonation of Merv Hughes, but I'm chalking up efforts to date as a 'respectable' first innings.

Ok - morning of day 4 and the mo is much greyer than I remember - admittedly my progress is not as spectacular as some of my younger, swarthier, and more hirsute colleagues - but I will persist and perhaps nurture the growth by talking to it or playing it classical music, like a pot plant. I'm sure it will be encouraged with more donations. :)
