Our Motivation

Just under 6 weeks ago I (Mischa) was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and a week after that I had my left testicle removed. Since then, I have had various blood tests, scan and histology results come back, all of which have been good news, and the cancer was confined to that pesky left nut which the surgeon ever so kindly yeeted out of me. So, at this stage I do not need any further treatment, just to be monitored for the next 5 years. I realise that it is not November yet, however, my (amazingly supportive) girlfriend Grace and myself have decided to run a half marathon in two months and try and raise some money for The Movember Foundation. These guys do phenomenal work in men’s health, targeting testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and mental health (some examples in the link below). I was literally reminded to examine my balls by some of their promotion, and if I had not done so at the time, I doubt I would have caught it as early. I haven’t been able to exercise since surgery, and just went for my first run the other day which absolutely killed me – so it should be a good challenge.
