My motivation

I'm raising funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. I need your help. Please donate to support men's health.

And this year I’m doing the classic grow a Mo’ . I’ve got a decent chunk of upper lip real estate so why not?

I know a lot of people that have had a really tough time over the last year or few, and that shows up most when the coping skills people have built stop working in the situations we find ourselves.

My coping strategies have often been about physical activity, self reflection, and the classic bloke stoic play book. These are tried and tested, they work for me, and they feel safe. AND sometimes they are not the right tools for the situation I find myself in.

It’s scary and hard to build new habits for myself, playing music, talking, making new friends, re-connecting with old ones.

It’s scary and hard. And it helps.

Movember is important to me because it’s a light way to start the conversation about something hard.

If the money I raise helps one person on their journey that’s amazing, if these words get you to check in on a mate even better.

Enjoy the month, give a mate a hug.

This year I was late to the party signing up for Movember, I have been training for Queenstown marathon for months, including rehabing an injury that meant that I was in pain walking most mornings. I picked a thousand dollar target because "why not eh?". If I can raise some awareness great, if I can raise some money even better. Now 2 days into the fundraising we have hit the half way point AMAZING!!!

Thank you all so much!!!

Running has always been good for my mental health. I know when I have spoken to my friends about their struggles and my own, the dark times seem a little brighter. So I was going to be running and talking about mental health with or without the donations, but thank you for the icing on the cake.

So keep going I will. Donate, share the link, support another Movember effort, or reach out to a mate.

25% of the fundraising goal in the bag. Time to sport a mo for all the support.

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
