Our Motivation

Movember is a global men’s health charity. Every November, men grow a mo and take on challenges to raise money for mental health and suicide prevention, as well as prostate and testicular cancer.

Too many men die young from things that could have been prevented. A lot of men feel they should sort things out on their own, so when something isn’t right they keep quiet about it. It might be stress, grief, or a low mood that won’t lift. It might be a lump they keep putting off getting checked. The people who care about them often don’t know anything is wrong until much later, and while sometimes it does pass, sometimes it doesn’t.

In New Zealand, suicide is the leading cause of death for men aged 15 to 34. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men, and prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Kiwi men. This November we’re raising money for the work that tackles all of it, and making a point of checking in, getting checked and being there for each other.

Every one of us is growing a mo for the whole month, no matter how bad it gets, with a weekly photo to prove it.

We’re each running 60, 100 or 150+ km over November. The 60 km is for the 60 men lost to suicide every hour around the world.

We’ll finish with a prize giving:
'The Mo Bro' : best mo
'The No Mo Bro' : worst mo
'Mo Money Bro' : most money raised
'The Mo-rathon Bro' : longest single run
'Go the Distance Bro' : most kms
'The Spirit of Movember' : best energy all month

Follow along and back us
We’ll post weekly updates so you can watch the mos grow (or not) and the kms add up. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference, and we’re very grateful for your support :)
While you’re here, ask a mate how they’re really going!
